Flyers are up on the U.F. campus! Also, flyers were on the ground at GMaP and Tim And Terry's... fixed them.

Give me some more!

one of the most enjoyable Action Research events to date.
The Kevin Blechdom / Irene Moon joint presentation taught me so much.

I hope everyone took notes...Professor Moon is giving pop quiz next show!

edit ; pics soon.

The Scientifically Speaking with Irene Moon set was the best Action Research performance I have ever seen! WOW! Even better than Google Earth, I dare say. Multiple costume changes, bizarre PowerPoint infestation presentations, weirdoid soundtrack, laser-pointer, old lady wig, fancy shoes with see-through heels, a Carl Sagan cameo, a banjo-playing bug, a definitive opening into an alternate dimension, goofball improvisation, Kafka-esque transformations, polka dot boleros, note taking, severely entertaining ramblings...

No amount of video footage will do this one justice. Those who missed it, missed it!
I almost professed my love to her right then and there.

Hal McGee gave an unrestrained frustration-spewing hateful noise blast of physically enduring showmanship.

Midnight Cobra delivered a short off-kilter yet syncopated emotionless experimental/noise demonstration.

Id M Theft Able was a super-nice weirdoid who combed his wild beard with a metal rake, made 15 audience members bounce 1"x1"x4' sticks at his command, spoke in tounges rhythmically as a broken human beatbox, played a fan, and did experimental sing-along karaoke based on requests and no visual or audio assitance.

Kevin Blechdom belted out an unexpected parade of broken-hearted dirges about the failings of male-female relationships with plenty of vocoded sincerity.

Ironing low-ended a moody tonal slow-down set which revealed the impending agony of his work day(s).

Danny McGuire was there too! And then some drunk kid came in and fell all over the place.

Message to Jake:

GET BIKE NOW

Cars are soooooooooooo twentieth century!

Come over this weekend and grab whichever "friendship bike" you want. Bring the broken bikes in your yard as trade. The offer ends this Sunday.

Last night was immersive and spectacular. Thank you so much to everyone who made it out! I feel bad for those who missed this as there was one incredible treat after another. You really had to be there to understand the Blechdom/Moon and the Id M Theft Able performances. Freaking awesome.

Kevin Blechdom & Irene Moon have set up a blog to document their tour. There are photos up there now from last night and video coming soon:

Danny McGuire posted video of Hal McGee's noisestorm:

Oh, and Chris you left off Midnite Cobra's performance, which was an intriguing mix of sparse homemade synth bloops and brushed drums, improv style.

Actually, I went back and added them in after I realized this.

I wasn't too thrilled with they're performance to be honest. And no, it wasn't because all of the amazingness last night overshadowed them. I liked the drumming, but felt the piece was largely forgettable. Sorry...

not hateful

Chris,

I appreciate the comment, but I think that you may have misinterpreted the particular kind of energy displayed in my performance last night. Hate has nothing to do with it. I will paste here a message that I sent to you on MySpace today:

You commented (last night at the show) that my recent performances have been "angsty". I don't look at it this way at all. I prefer to look at it as "positive anger" - I am simultaneously unleashing my own personal brain-energy and channeling the powers and crackling electric energies of the Universe. I am not morose (although a little moody and melancholic at times), and I am not "angry at the world". Whereas other people might do noise music performance of a similar nature in order to give display to their negativity, I do the kind of noise performance that I do to interact with Nature and Life itself - I am merely harnessing and riding the tide of Chaos.

And by the way, this was my favorite AR show. I will be posting videos and photos soon.

What I meant that the noise itself was hateful. That's what I get for not bringing my earplugs to a noise show.
